On our second day at AIR Studios we were joined by a team from Drift Studio, who shot video of us all day as we recorded our major 4-movement work Life & Times. It's been a very long and difficult job for the Drift guys to get this all edited and tied up, but now they've finally done it and you can get a taste of the result on our Video page.

Yes, we're happy to say that our debut album ‘Unfinished Business’ is all complete and ready to go! The official release date is 18 October, but bits of it will leak out in various places between now and then, starting with Bandcamp, where you can read a bit about it, pre-order the album and listen to — and even buy — a sample track. It'll be leaking out here too very soon!

And to go along with that, our four-date launch mini-tour is all set up, and you can even buy tickets for three of them — see the Gigs…

We're hoping to launch our new album, Unfinished Business, to be released on the Spark! label in the autumn of 2024, with a tour of launch gigs to help it on its way. So far we only have two confirmed, one at Jazz in Reading on 25 October and one at Jazz 825 in Southend on 6 November. There are a few other irons in the fire, but if anyone has any ideas for venues in south east England, we'd be grateful for contact details.

Shanti Jayasinha, our previous trumpet player (he's on the album) has been appointed to the prestigious post of Senior Lecturer in Jazz at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, no less. So many congrats to Shanti! Naturally this makes playing in a London based band like Perfect Stranger, er, a bit less convenient. We managed to persuade the excellent George Jefford, who has depped for us a couple of times, to take Shanti's chair — and Shanti graciously agreed. So we have a new trumpeter, and a very fine one…

Yes, the new album - for release on Spark! in Autumn 2024 - is now all recorded, edited, mixed and mastered. Which just leaves… a lot of stuff still to do!

Mixing is now complete on our debut album, Unfinished Business, for release on Spark! Mastering still to come, and we anticipate release later this year. It's exactly 50 years since the first - failed - attempt at getting this music together!
